Crowds flock to Blacon as fun-filled community festival returns
5 July 2022
Thousands of people enjoyed a fun-filled day as a popular community celebration returned to Chester.
The Blacon Festival, organised by social enterprise Avenue Services, saw residents of all ages make their way to Queen Elizabeth Fields to enjoy a wide range of attractions and entertainment.
The festival, which offers a chance for local people to come together and celebrate life in their community, was belatedly celebrating its 25th anniversary after an absence of two years due to the pandemic.
Visitors enjoyed a family dog show, an assault course and dozens of stalls from Chester companies, charities and voluntary organisations, as well as live performances from local musicians and dance groups.
Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “The festival always highlights just what a fantastic community spirit we have here in Blacon. That was more evident than ever as people enjoyed being back together after the challenges of the last two years.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended or helped organise the event for making it such a big success.”
