Thousands attend popular community festival
22 July 2024
Despite the weather, this year’s Blacon Festival was still a great success, with thousands showing up to attend the renowned community event.
Organised each year by social enterprise Avenue Services, the festival brings together people of all ages to Queen Elizabeth Fields where they enjoy a wide range of attractions and entertainment.
The festival was kicked off this year by the fantastic Blacon’s Got Talent competition winner, Evelyn Windrich who gave a brilliant performance. To fit this year’s music festival theme, there were also performances from some great local talent, such as X Factor stars MAVMAC Band, Elvis impersonator John Butler, Dee Sign choir and Silhouette Dance Group.
There were more than 20 stalls from local businesses and community organisations for visitors to browse, including Blacon Boxing, Here & Now, Chester FC, Liberty Bakes and many more.
Paul Knight, Head of Avenue Services, said: “This year’s festival was another amazing success. It’s always great to see the community come together for this celebration each year.
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to the attendees, stallholders, performers and organisers. Blacon Festival wouldn’t be what it is without you and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.”
Avenue Services, which is a not-for-profit organisation, is a joint venture between Sanctuary and Cheshire West and Chester Council.
