This year’s Blacon Festival brought thousands of people together for another successful community celebration.
The event, which is organised by social enterprise Avenue Services and now in its 26th year, saw people of all ages head to Queen Elizabeth Fields to enjoy a wide range of attractions and entertainment.
The festival, which was officially opened by Chester MP Samantha Dixon and The Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Sheila Little, featured around 40 stalls from local businesses and organisations including Rage Fitness, Here and Now Chester, Guide Dogs, Chester FC and Darn Tart’s Bakery. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended, bringing along a fire engine which was popular with the crowds.
With a music festival theme this year, visitors enjoyed performances from a host of local talent including Jonathan Butler, Ellie May Irvine, Ava Smith, Trilogy Trio and Rod Stewart tribute act The Dean Morter Experience.
Chris Leicester, Neighbourhood Partnerships Manager at Avenue Services, said: “The Blacon Festival always brings our community together for a fantastic day and this year was no exception.
"I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and to our organisers who helped pull this event together. We’re already looking forward to seeing you all again next year.”
